The Whole Wild World Bus Tour visited Owenbeg N.S. on the 17th April 2024.
Led by Patricia Forde, Laureate na nÓg, the bus tour started in Malin Head in Co. Donegal and finished in Mizen Head. Throughout its journey, over thirty Irish childrens’ authors and illustrators visited schools, libraries and other venues all along the Wild Atlantic Way this April.
Owenbeg N.S. was the only school in Co. Sligo chosen for this visit, out of a total of fifteen schools nationwide.
The purpose of the tour was to ignite creativity and imagination in young readers and writers, and to share stories, whilst also having lots of fun. Owenbeg N.S. was visited by Childrens’ authors Patricia Forde, Alan Nolan, Serena Molloy, Sadhbh Devlin and illustrator Karen Harte and classes participated in exciting workshops with the authors and illustrators. RTE Radio 1 Drivetime recorded a news segment of the visit, interviewing children, staff and the authors themselves. It was a fantastic initiative and a memorable day for all the pupils in Owenbeg N.S.
