About Us

Owenbeg National School has been central to the community of Owenbeg since 1837. The school gets its name from the little river that runs close to the school and flows into the sea at Kilbane just west of Easkey Village.

The school is under the Patronage of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Killala.

We currently have two Mainstream Class Teachers, one Learning Support/Resource teacher and two Special Needs Assistants based in the school. We have an Autism class to support our autistic pupils.

In our school we endeavour to help each pupil reach his/her potential. We believe that each child is unique and special, and that it is important that children have a positive and happy learning experience in school.

We promote an environment of respect for others, and the right of all children to learn and teachers to teach in a pleasant atmosphere. Children often have to work in groups across the subjects of the curriculum. In this way they learn how to co-operate and work with others as part of a team.
We believe in the use of positive language in behaviour management, and always seek to praise good behaviour, and respect for others.
