We are thrilled to announce that Owenbeg N.S. has been in receipt of a STEM education grant from the Department of Education to the value of €10,000. After a lengthy and detailed application, we were chosen from over 2,700 schools in Ireland and sanctioned the funds to implement our project “Developing 21st Century Skills Through Teaching and Learning in Sustainability and Outdoor Learning”.
We chose this project because we believe that teaching about sustainability and care for the environment would develop our pupils’ identity as global citizens. Through this project, our pupils will gain opportunities for developing 21stCentury Skills, essential for life-long learning and become functioning members of society with our ever-changing society.
We hope to purchase specific resources to achieve our aims in this project in the coming months including new devices, LEGO kits and coding devices, suitable for all classes.
